Add Safety to Your Trampoline With a Trampoline Enclosure

Using a trampoline is a lot of fun, as well as being great exercise. However, it can be rather dangerous if you don't take the right safety precautions. There are several things you can do, depending on what size trampoline you have, your budget, and the type of safety you're trying to provide. Many people use trampoline pads, covers, and other devices to help add safety while on the trampoline. However, this strategy doesn't provide any preventative measures for injuries that occur through falling off the trampoline. For larger trampolines, this is a problem. The best solution to this is a trampoline enclosure.

Trampoline enclosures are also known as bounce arenas. They're among the most popular safety devices in use for trampolines. They're specifically designed to prevent users from falling off while bouncing. It's especially important to make use of a trampoline enclosure when your trampoline is located near objects like trees, fences, or a patio or deck. This way, users don't risk injury by falling against these objects.

There are two major types of trampoline enclosures. Some have the netting constructed on the inside of the trampoline padding. Others utilize netting located on the outer side of the padding. Either type can provide protection against falls, but the kind with netting on the inside also prevent injuries from falling against the padded trampoline frame.

Trampoline enclosures are available in a variety of sizes, but are mostly for larger trampolines. The most common size is around fourteen feet in diameter. Trampoline enclosures can also be found for trampolines between ten and sixteen feet in diameter, and are available for both round and square or rectangular trampolines. Generally, they start at around two hundred dollars, and go up as material strength and size of enclosure increases.

When shopping for a trampoline enclosure, look for strong netting, and straps that will hold it firmly to the poles. Pay attention to the weight rating of the enclosure you buy. Most top out at two hundred pounds or so, meaning that they may fail to provide adequate protection for heavier jumpers. Higher quality trampoline enclosures may come with higher weight ratings.

If you already have an enclosure, be sure to check it over every month or so for signs of damage or failure. Like all pieces of outdoor equipment, trampoline enclosures can suffer deterioration and failure. Fortunately, their components, such as nets, straps and poles, can be replaced without having to buy an entirely new enclosure. Used correctly, a trampoline enclosure will add a degree of protection to your trampoline that allows you to use it without worry.
